Android 5.0 Lollipop Update: 10 Percent 0f All Android Devices Now Running Lollipop

Ever since the latest Android version was released last year, Google has been working double time just to deliver the version to as many Android handsets as possible. After almost half a year, a new report gives an update about the company's progress in updating devices that run its well-loved OS.

According to a recent report by GSM Arena, Google itself has released numbers regarding the market share of its latest Android version.

In the report, almost 10 percent of all existing Android handsets are now running on Android 5.0 Lollipop or its latter updates. That is already an increase from 5 percent that was recorded a month ago.

Meanwhile, the latest update, Android 5.1 Lollipop only runs on 0.5 percent of devices, up from 0.4 percent last month.

In the report, the only Android version that had a significant drop in market share is Android 4.4 Kit Kat, whose numbers dropped from 41.1 percent last month to 39.8 percent this month.

Handsets that run on Android 4.1-3 Jelly Bean are reportedly the biggest chunk of the Android market share, which comprise a total of 40 percent of all Android-powered devices.
