Andy Murray vs Denis Istomin takes place in the U.S. Open 2013 tennis tournament on Tuesday night, with the defending champion looking to take down the Uzbekistan player for the second time this year. The match will commence at about 8.30 p.m. ET and can be watched online through free live stream (details below).
Murray and Istomin met earlier this year in January, when Murray knocked out Istomin as he went on to win the Brisbane title.
The game will start on the Arthur Ashe Stadium at Flushing Meadows after Serena Williams' match against Carla Suarez Navarro.
Istomin comes into this match with media reports focusing on his coach more than himself – the Uzbekistan player is one of the only players on the men's tour to have a female coach, and only one among a few to have his own mother as their coach.
Istomin, who is ranked 65th in the world, said of his mother coach prior to today's match: "She's tried to always do right for me. When I started playing she was playing a little in national tournaments, so she knows tennis better than me for sure."
He added, "We have a good relationship and we understand each other very well.
She always tries to help me in everything, not just tennis but normal life as well, and gives me a lot of good words. I'm happy to be coached by my mum. Sometimes she shouts at me. I try to say my way, 'I can't hit the ball like this,' but she says, 'Do it like this, just listen to me.' She's normally right.
"It's tough for the other players to travel with female coaches, it's really difficult. Even going to the locker room before the match when they have to talk, they cannot do it.
"I always go outside to talk with mum before the match, so it's tough for me as well. But she's my mum. Not many players have a coach like mum or father. Some, but not many."
His opponent today, reigning men's champ Andy Murray, was also introduced to tennis through his mother, however, she dropped into just a regular parent-supporting role as his career became more serious.
Murray will be the big favorite for today's game following his wins at the U.S. Open last year, as well as taking Gold at the Olympic Games, and finally winning Wimbledon just weeks ago.
Meanwhile, Istomin has only reached the fourth round of a Grand Slam once before, losing to Mikhail Youzhny at Wimbledon last year.
