Angelina Jolie Retirement: Actress Retiring, Moving to Directing

Hollywood A-lister Angelina Jolie has confirmed that she wants to retire from acting and move to writing and directing her own films. The actress, known for various roles such as "Girl Interrupted" and "Tomb Raider" had revealed she did not enjoy being an actress and wants to work behind the camera.

"I've never been comfortable as an actor; I've never loved being in front of the camera. I didn't ever think I could direct, but I hope I'm able to have a career at it because I'm much happier," she said in an interview with DuJour Magazine.

She also intends to make a few more films before she permanently moves to becoming a director. Currently, she is promoting her new film "Unbroken," which is about an Olympic runner and U.S. Airman Louis Zamperini who spent 47 days living in a raft after a plane crash and spending two years as a Japanese POW.

One of the other projects she is working on is a film titled "By the Sea" starring herself and her husband Brad Pitt. She also wrote and is directing the film.

"The tricky thing is directing myself and directing Brad. It's hard, dramatic material, and we're balancing," she says.

"It's a heavy film, and it's not easy for us. But even as you struggle through it, you're in the trenches together and you don't expect it to be easy. We're challenging each other and that's a really good thing," she adds.
The last time that Pitt and Jolie starred in a film together was "Mr. & Mrs. Smith" in 2005.
