'Annabelle' Movie News: Actual Possessed Doll Locked Away at Occult Museum

The movie "Annabelle" promises to be filled with lots of scary moments when the movie premieres next month, and now, Warner Bros. has released a new trailer that gives more information about the origins of the titular doll, which actually exists.

The doll, Annabelle, is one of the many real haunted dolls in the world. It is said to be capable of unspeakable evil, and the doll is kept under lock and key by paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren in an occult museum in Connecticut. The doll is said to have been exorcised several times by a priest, and to this day, a priest visits the doll twice a month to bless it.

The doll, which has been said to move and write messages to its original owners, is still inside a glass case in the Occult Museum, and though it has not been reported to move since it was placed there, the doll is thought to be responsible for the death of a young man who came to the museum with his girlfriend. The man, upon hearing of Ed's story about the doll, went up to the case and banged on it and said that if the doll can put scratches on people then he wanted to be scratched as well. Ed insisted that he should leave immediately.

On their way home, the young man and his girlfriend were making fun of the doll when they lost control of the motorcycle and crashed into a tree. The man was killed instantly, but the woman lived and was hospitalized for a year.

Meanwhile, the movie "Annabelle" is said to be the prequel to "The Conjuring" and will detail the back story of the doll and how it came to be haunted.

"John Form (Ward Horton) has found the perfect gift for his expectant wife Mia (Annabelle Wallis)—a beautiful, rare, vintage doll in a pure white wedding dress," the synopsis reads. "But Mia's delight with Annabelle doesn't last long. On one horrific night, their home is invaded by members of a satanic cult, who violently attack the couple. Spilled blood and terror are not all they leave behind. The cultists have conjured an entity so malevolent that nothing they did will compare to the sinister conduit to the damned that is now … Annabelle."

"Annabelle" is scheduled for release on Oct. 3, 2014.
