iPhone 7 Launch Will See 'Biggest Camera Jump Ever'

Excitement over the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus has barely simmered down, yet talks of an upcoming iPhone 7 is sparking a lot of rumors and speculation among tech watchers.

The iPhone 7 is expected to have a 4.7-inch screen, with a bigger version — the iPhone 7 Plus — equipped with a 5.5-inch display. The phone will reportedly have a rounded, aluminium chassis and is expected to be very slim. It's likely to be available in Silver, Gold, and Slate Gray, although there are rumors that the phone could also come in Rose Gold and Copper.

There is also speculation about the phone's screen which stems from an Apple patent that was published earlier this year. It describes what Apple calls "sideways displays," which is similar to the display found on the Galaxy Note Edge. According to PCAdvisor, the patent hints that the iPhone 7 will have a display that extends onto the sides of the device.

Another rumor that was sparked by an Apple patent is that the smartphone's Touch ID sensor, which is usually placed below the Home button, could be built-in to the entire screen, which eliminates the need for a Home button and makes room for a larger display without having to add inches to the entire smartphone.

One major change suggested by Daring Fireball is that the iPhone 7 will have the "biggest camera jump ever" featuring a two-lens system which will reportedly bring it up to DLSR quality. The new iPhone 7 is rumored to have a 21MP rear facing camera.

Based on previous iPhone launches, it's likely that the iPhone 7 will be unveiled at a special event in September 2015.
