Apple May Start Developing Next Gen DSLR-Quality Cameras on iPhone

Apple has just acquired a company that specializes in manufacturing small but powerful cameras, giving rise to speculations it may usher in a new generation of iPhone shooters.

Apple has just paved the way for its foray into developing a more superior camera for its iPhone line after its recent acquisition of LinX, an Israeli manufacturer of smartphone and tablet cameras that could rival a DSLR.

LinX device cameras have been specially designed to perform strongly in low light situations and offer lower shutter lag. It also features richer color fidelity, background focus blur, depth tracking, parallax images, 3D picture capture and modeling and post-shot refocusing.

LinX technology, said to use a two-lens system, is focused on creating miniature tablet and smartphone cameras, which may result in Apple's next flagship handsets carrying the new DSLR type cameras. With Apple's MacBook line growing exceedingly thinner, this technology could carry on to the company's notebooks, as well.

In the face of the Samsung Galaxy S6's outstanding 16MP camera, it makes sense for Apple wanting to stay ahead on the smartphone camera game. This comes on the heels of the news the Cupertino, California company has been scouting for a new supplier for its iPhone chips over fears Samsung may prioritize its popular Galaxy S6 line over Apple's devices.

Since its LinX acquisition, rumored to have cost $20 million, speculations have arisen Apple's next generation of smartphones may be powered by the same haptic Force Touch technology found on the new MacBook. The iPhone 6s, 6s Plus may be powered by the new Apple A9 processors, with the iPhone 6 mini variation running on A8 chip.

While no new iPhone unveilings are expected until September, there are likely to be reports and leaks emerging about the new iPhone software, with some sporting the powerful LinX-made DSLR quality cameras in the line-up.
