Apple Watch News: First Update Available for Wearable Tech, In-Store Purchase Coming Soon
Apple just released the first update for the first generation of its wearable tech, the Apple Watch.
Called the Watch OS 1.0.1, the new update was launched earlier this week and according to reports, it comes along with a host of bug fixes and improvements that are touted to further boost the smartwatch's performance.
A report from Phone Arena indicated that among the featured changes would include a better Siri functionality which now runs more consistently after 1.0.1.
The Watch from the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus maker can now also calculate the calories spent for indoor cycling and rowing workouts as well as measure the distance and pace covered during outdoor walk and run workouts.
Greater accessibility is also being promised in the new OS version. The official support website of the Cupertino-based tech giant also pointed out that users can now access the third party apps.
Aside from the fact that the Apple Watch can now display new emoji characters, the new firmware will also see the device speaking to a number of foreign languages like Brazilian Portuguese, Danish, Dutch, Swedish, Russian, Thai, and Turkish.
The update can be downloaded and installed through the user's companion iPhone device.
Meanwhile, Apple's CEO Tim Cook during his visit to China that the Apple Watch will be available for in-store purchase and pickup "by June."
This means that would-be buyers don't have to place their orders online and wait for the device to be delivered to their home or at their workplace.
The report also confirmed that the June in-store launch will also include those outlets in China.
