Apple Watch Series 3 Specs, Features Review: Voice And Data Services Added In New GPS + Cellular Edition

The Apple Watch Series 3 has been officially launched by the Cupertino-based tech giant last week, and it proved that it comes with a lot of improvements from its previous edition.

According to reports, the new generation of Apple's wearable device now comes with an added voice and data service. This was made possible after the tech firm minimized the device's cellular chipset. Because of this, users of the Apple Watch Series 3 no longer have to worry about the battery life of the device since it can sustain its power even if it receives several calls.

A press release from the tech firm also claimed that the new GPS + Cellular edition of the Apple Watch Series 3 provides a groundbreaking way of using wearable devices.

"We believe the addition of cellular will transform the way people use Apple Watch, providing a new sense of freedom since they can stay connected with or without their iPhone," Apple's COO Jeff Williams stated during the launch of the device as posted on the company's website. "Apple Watch Series 3 combined with the power of watchOS 4 is the ultimate device for a healthy life."

The tech firm also mentioned that the GPS + Cellular edition of the Apple Watch Series 3 comes with a full LTE as well as a UMTS cellular radio that can be swapped effortlessly to the Cellular function when it is placed far from the user's iPhone. Since the contact number that was registered in the watch is the same as the one for the smartphone, users no longer have to provide a new number to their family and friends.

The new Apple Watch Series 3 can also make a call using the Airpods with the help of its built-in Siri virtual assistant. It also has updated health-related features including the new Heart Rate app that provides more details about the user's health. The update was made possible by the new watchOS 4.

The Apple Watch Series 3 GPS + Cellular edition is being sold at $399 in the US, while the GPS version starts at $329.
