AppleCare+ News: Apple Increases Prices of Extended Warranty Coverage

While Apple fans are still ecstatic over the release of the iPhone X, iPhone 8, and iPhone 8 Plus, the Cupertino-based company has quietly raised the prices of its AppleCare+ coverage program and out of pocket repairs.

According to reports, Apple has increased the prices for its AppleCare+ coverage for Plus-series phones like the 8 Plus, 7 Plus, and 6S Plus as the service now costs $149 from its previous price of $129. While the iPhone X is yet to be released, Apple has already affixed a $199 price tag for its AppleCare+ offerings.

However, Apple has also hiked the prices for out-of-service repairs of the older model iPhones that are not covered by its AppleCare+ coverage. Based on the posting of Apple on its official website, even the prices for the screen repair on older iPhones have been raised by as much as $30.

Apple offers some basic coverage for new iPhones that includes a one-year limited warranty and 90 days of free phone support. However, with AppleCare+, users can broaden the scope of the warranty on their phone, including the extension of the coverage for two years since the purchase of the device and two incidents of accidental damage coverage with a service fee of $29 for screen damage.

Although Apple has attached a high price tag for AppleCare+ coverage of the iPhone X, some opine that it is totally understandable and acceptable. With the upcoming device carrying a price tag of $999, it goes without saying that its would-be owners will have no issue with paying an additional $199 for more warranty coverage.

Furthermore, with the phone boasting of a large screen and different specifications than the other iPhones, fixing it in the event something goes wrong will call a different approach and more expensive parts.
