Army Base Shooting: 51 Year Old Man Arrested for Shooting Wife in Fort Sam Houston

An army base shooting has led to the arrest of a 51 year old man at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio this week.

Alvin Roundtree is accused of shooting his wife at the Texas army base, and prosecutors have pushed forward to charge him with domestic violence on Tuesday.

Roundtree is suspected of shooting his common law wife multiple times with a .45 caliber pistol. The man's wife, who is on active duty at the base as an instructor at the Army Medical Department Center and School, was reported to be in a stable condition on Tuesday despite her multiple gunshot wounds. She is currently receiving medical care at San Antonio Military Medical Center, a statement from the U.S. attorney's officer has reported.

The suspect will be brought before a federal magistrate on Thursday, and if convicted of the charges against him he could face up to 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

Authorities have reported that the husband entered his wife's office where they began talking. However, things quickly escalated, and as they continued their heated argument outside the man got out his gun and fired multiple shots at the victim.

Fortunately some of the victim's work colleagues were medical professionals, and she was given medical treatment immediately following the shooting after her husband made his getaway from the scene in his car.

Roundtree was eventually arrested by San Antonio police and handed over to military police, who have now charged him. Authorities confirmed he is in federal custody because the crime took place on a military base, and the FBI have also been brought in to investigate.
