Asus Zenfone Zoom Available Now In U.S., Specs Include 13MP Camera With 3x Optical Zoom, 5.5-Inch Display, Android Lollipop

Those who reside in the U.S. can now have the Asus Zenfone Zoom on hand as the device is reported to have already arrived in the country. According to Phone Arena, the smartphone is now exclusively available via B&H Photo, which opened pre-orders last Jan. 20. And as promised, the retailer already started shipping the devices on Monday.

The device has been available in its home country of Taiwan since December 2015. But even with the late arrival in the U.S., the Zenfone Zoom is warmly welcomed by consumers in the country, which is considered to be the second market where the handset is being officially released. The specs of the device are the same, thus, it comes with a 5.5-inch IPS Full HD display, as noted in Tech Times. It is also topped with a Corning Gorilla Glass 4 for protection and has a pixel density of 403 ppi.

Under the hood is a 2.5 GHz Intel Atom Z3590 processor paired with 4 GB of RAM. For its storage capacity, the device is equipped with 64 GB of expandable internal memory and the user can opt to expand up to 128 GB via microSD card slot. It is pre-installed with Android 5.0 Lollipop and features camera specs that are quite impressive and can really go up against the iPhone 6.

According to GSM Arena, the Asus Zenfone Zoom is claimed to be the "thinnest phone with 3x optical zoom." It has a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera with OIS and 3x optical zoom. Through this high-tech feature, the smartphone is capable of capturing distant objects with more clarity. On the front is a 5-megapixel selfie camera but with no zoom.

"In terms of image quality the ZenFone Zoom can not only rival single-lens reflex (SLR) camera, judging from all the features it as well as outshine iPhone 6s Plus," stated Jonney Shih, Asus' Chairman during the release of the smartphone, as quoted in the Tech Times report. However, because of the added features, the smartphone is heavier than usual. The device is 185 grams and 11.95 mm thick.

For those who are interested in purchasing the Asus Zenfone Zoom, they will need to prepare $399 for the black-colored unlocked unit.
