Atari Vault Releasing PC Bundle with 100 Classic Games this Spring

Video gaming pioneer Atari Vault is releasing a PC bundle with 100 classic games on Steam this coming spring, to the glee of fans of vintage games.

The titles that Atari Vault will be releasing on the Steam online gaming platform include "Centipede," "Tempest," "Warlords," and "Missile Command." Gamers can expect the games to have improved user interface but still retain their nostalgic soundtracks from the 1970s and 80s, according to Digital Trends.

Players on the Steam gaming platform can expect new online and multiplayer features for their favorite classic Atari games, PC World reports.

Aside from that, modern gamers will be able to enjoy Steam Controller support and better precision and control. Plus, they will be able to compete with other players on the Steam Leaderboards, the report details.

"For the first time ever, fans from around the world can challenge other players on Steam Leaderboards and compete for arcade supremacy," Atari said in a press release. "All while rocking out to the games' original 70's and 80's soundtracks."

Code Mystics is the developer of the 100-game Atari Vault bundle, the report adds.

This is not the first time that Atari has resurrected and retooled classic games for modern players. In 2011, it launched a 100-game bundle called "Atari's Greatest Hits" for iOS, the report relays.

Other companies that are in competition with Atari in resurrecting vintage games are Double Fine and GOG. The former released "Grim Fandango Remastered" and the latter focuses on selling retooled digital download versions of classic video games.

While the price of the Atari Vault's bundle with 100 classic games still has not been revealed, the gaming pioneer is expected to hold hands-on demos and live insights for "Rollercoaster Tycoon World" and "Pridefest" at the PAX South 2016. The said event will be held from Jan. 29 to 31 in San Antonio, Texas.
