However, with good news also comes the bad as it has been heard that one major character might die when the show returns to the small screen.

The report from KPopStarz.com cited two different sources each saying that the sophomore season of the anime based on the manga written by Hajime Isayama will likely come out next year but the specific date has yet to be revealed.

With regards to the plot, several plot spoilers are talking about the ongoing battle of the 104th Trainees Squad, which includes members like Mikasa Ackerman, Reiner Braun, Bertolt Hoover, Annie Leonhart, Eren Yeager, Jean Kirstein, Marco Bott and several others.

The word on the street is that Season 2 might see the squad going face to face with "a new breed of intelligent Titans" that are of a similarity with the apes. They will also uncover the mystery surrounding the Armored and Colossal class of Titans.

But perhaps the most shocking rumor that many followers of Shingeki no Kyojin have hoped not to happen is the purported death of Levi. Reports say the "clean freak" squad leader will die saving Eren, Mikasa, and Armin in the coming installment. His death, however, will bring in new characters like Captain Kenny Ackerman and the Reiss family members.

For those who missed it, below is the brief synopsis for Season 2 (via KPopStarz):

"The fifth story arc of the 'Attack on Titan,' the 'Clash of Titans' arc encompasses the Titans appearance inside the wall, which forced 104th Trainees Squad to a brutal battle against those mysterious Titans. Unknown to them, those Titans are actually members from their group. Eren, shocked, battles them in a decisive battle."
