Season 5 will be the end for Bates Motel

It was recently announced that Bates Motel Season 5 will be the last for the series. This was announced by EP Kerry Ehrin who at the same time promises that it will also going to be a fun season. For one Rihanna will be joining the cast of the psychological thriller. This is perhaps to put more glitz to the show's final farewell to fans.

Norma will still be around

It is believed that Norma will breathe life to the "mother" figure Norman has in his head. Ehrin teased during the Comic-Con that there will be some racy scenes between Norman and Norma. Ehrin also revealed that these intimate scenes have already been shot for the past seasons but have never been aired.

Max Thieriot will make his directorial debut during the coming season. Highmore (Norman) co-wrote the second episode with both Ehrin and the other EP Carlton Cuse. Production for Bates Motel Season 5 will begin in the fall. The premiere will be announced later.

Rihanna made big reveal at Comic-Con

Meanwhile, Rihanna made the big reveal on her joining the cast via a video presentation also at the Comic-Con. The singer was quoted addressing the crowd, "I am about to check into the Bates Motel very soon. Guess what else? Guess who's playing Marion! Yes, so all you Comic-Con fans, all you Bates Motel fans, stay tuned!"

The iconic scene

In the original 1959 Alfred Hitchcock movie Psycho, Marion Crane was played by Janet Leigh. She gained notoriety by appearing in the now iconic shower scene where she was stabbed to death.

Cuse and Ehrin said in an interview that they wanted to redefine the iconic scene in a contemporary and exciting way. They further revealed that they and Rihanna are mutual big fans of each other so there was "perfect collision of creativity and fate." It will be Rihanna's first TV role.
