Batman Arkam Origins DLC to Introduce Mr. Freeze

The recently announced Batman Arkam Origins DLC will introduce Mr. Freeze to the early universe.

Warner Bros. updated its Batman Arkam Facebook page on New Year's Eve with a message that reads "all-new story DLC coming in 2014." The company also posted up an image that shows the "Wayne Foundation Humanitarian of the Year" with a woman standing up in the background holding a heart of ice.

The imagery hints at the introduction of Mr. Freeze to the Arkam Origins universe.

Warner Bros. took to Facebook last week to confirm that a special announcement would be made on New Year's Eve regarding the game.

"Visit this page on December 31st for a special announcement... more details to come next week," read the company's post.

Warner Bros. was predicted to discuss a possible DLC for Batman: Arkam Origins title which turned out to be correct. Other predictions such as information on the next-gen Batman game being involved in the announcement turned out to be wishful thinking.

Batman Arkam Origins was released in the fall of this year and is the third installment in this free world super hero franchise following 2009's Batman: Arkam Asylum and 2011's Batman Arkam City. Origins functions as a prequel to both of those games taking place chronologically before them and telling the story of one of the hero's first years as a crime fighter in Gotham City.

The gameplay has remained the same throughout the three games along with the list of villains that includes Bane, the Joker, Harley Quinn and Deadshot. A new downloadable mission was released for Batman: Arkam City titled Harley Quinn's Revenge after the game's initial release. A similar downloadable mission might end up being included in this new announcement set for December 31.
