'Battlefield 5' Rumor: Game Could Be Set in Japan or Vietnam, But Fans Want It to Be in WWII

Although "Battlefield 5" has been confirmed, EA Dice did not reveal any details about the game, so fans have taken to speculating about its setting, among other things. One recent speculation places the "Battlefield 4" sequel's setting in Japan or Vietnam, while a poll says the game should be set in World War II.

Gaming-centric website Gamepur has recently given their take on where "Battlefield 5" could possibly take place. First on their list is the possibility that the game could go to Japan or Vietnam. The focus of the game, the site says, should be on the American side of the story. While the game could be set during any age in Japan, if it would be set in Vietnam, it should be set during the Vietnam War when American soldiers fought against the local army.

There's also the possibility that the game could be set in the future. However, the site believes this "wouldn't be so fascinating" as another video game series, namely "Call of Duty," has already explored it. What's interesting could be a flashback-based story following or similar to the "Black Ops" trilogy.

A recent poll conducted by popular YouTuber Jackfrags also revealed that only 6,400 people out of 53,000 want the game to be set in the near future. A total of 7,000 people want "Battlefield 5" to be a 2143 based sci-fi title, while 8,100 people want the game to be like Modern Warfare. Meanwhile, only 3,200 people voted for the game to be set in World War I. As it turns out, "Battlefield" fans want to revisit the World War II era, as about 28,400 people voted for this choice.

Although the survey size is small, it is a "good enough sample size" to determine where fans generally stand when it comes to the game's setting, according to Segment Next.

Needless to say, these are all speculations, fan theories, and suggestions at this point. Fans will have to wait until EA makes any official announcements or gives hints about the game.
