'Better Late Than Never' Spoilers and Release Date: NBC Show's Pilot Episode to Present Seasoned Cast Members

New reality travel show "Better Late Than Never" premieres on NBC with senior stars travel across Asia accompanied by a comedian.

The story of four friends, plus one

The show follows four main stars aged between 67 and 80 years old as they come together to reap the fruits of their hard work. They will go on a 30-day adventure of a lifetime around Asia, having nothing and no one but themselves to rely upon. They are then accompanied by a 33-year-old comedian, who essentially serves as the generational contrast, tour guide, and often translates the modern world, its cultures and subtexts to the elder cast.

The first episode of "Better Late Than Never" sees Henry Winkler phoning in his three friends—William Shatner, George Foreman, and Terry Bradshaw. He then calls comedian Jeff Dye as Winkler claims that Dye is the person who always calls him at work.

Winkler then spins a globe, marking the onset of the band's adventure. For the pilot episode, the stars land in Tokyo, Japan. The show will then eventually land to Kyoto. Throughout the series, the stars will travel across four more Asian cities, including Seoul, Hong Kong, Bangkok, and Chang Mal.

With the generational tendencies of the group, certain cringe-worthy banters exchanged between the cast make it on-air. There was even a point where one of the elders called the Japanese people too short in comparison to them. The dry and witty humor works favorably for the show. Even the candid thoughts of the older cast members keep the audience looking forward for the next one to either laugh about it or wince for it.

Jeff Dye's presence in terms of actual humor material could sometimes tend to be a bit redundant though, as having a comedian in a group of witty elders seem to push it. His inclusion is more of a practical thing, as the four elders needed someone who has a command of technology and a youthful perspective (albeit being 33-years-old) of the world.

The new reality travel series is the first North American adaptation of the hit Korean show "Grandpas Over Flowers." It was in 2014 that NBC bought the remake rights for the Korean series and production started in August 2015.
