'Big Bang Theory' season 9 plot news: 'Star Wars: Force Awakens' inspired episode

With the release of "The Big Bang Theory" season 9 less than a month away, executive producer Steve Molaro shared details on one of the season's episode.

According to TVLine, Molaro hinted that the series will have a storyline that is greatly influenced by the upcoming film "Star Wars: Force Awakens." He shared that the creatives are currently working on inputting ideas from Star Wars: Force Awakens into the season. The film will be weaved into the adventures of "The Big Bang Theory" group, since Sheldon, Leonard, Howard, and Raj are all big fans of the franchise.
While Molaro did not share much on how exactly the film will be played into the series, he explained that the cast and crew were all excited about it, including Johnny Galecki, Jim Parsons, Simon Helberg, and Kunal Nayyar. The franchise was previously mentioned in the series when they had an encounter with Carrie Fisher and James Earl Jones.

As for the group's romantic affairs, it was confirmed by Molaro that Leonard and Penny will finally get married in the first episode of season 9. "We're nine years in and we want to keep things moving forward, as well as exciting and scary and fun. Penny has had commitment issues for years and years now, especially when it comes to Leonard, and even she feels, 'How much longer are we going to go back and forth on this? Let's just jump in and hope for the best.'"
