AT&T began offering an iPhone 5 discount for black Friday 2012 that drastically slashes prices on the hit smartphone.
The deal only applies to refurbished models which are usually just as good as the new ones.
AT&T customers can purchase the 16GB iPhone 5 on contract for just $99. That's a 50 percent discount. The 32GB model is available on contract for $199 and the 64GB retails for $299.
All three of these models are available in both black and white and can be purchased in AT&T's online store starting today.
In other iPhone news, the next generation model will launch middle of 2013, according to a new a report.
DigiTimes is reporting that Apple will introduce its next generation iPad and iPhone series around the middle of next year.
The report also states that the release of the next iPhone will boost demand for ICs communications-related chips during the latter half of the first quarter. Component orders from Apple are expected to rise again between March and April, according to industry insiders.
However, this claim seems a bit off, since Apple normally introduces new iPhones in either the fall or the summer and the iPad 4th generation was unveiled and launched already. Apple seems to be full of surprises these days so anything is possible, but this report should be taken with a grain of salt.
An earlier report had stated that the iPhone 5S will launch during the first half of 2013.
The Taiwan-based publication the Commercial Times reported that Apple is planning to introduce lower-cost versions of its iPhone, iPad and Apple TV in the first half of the year.
The article was translated and reveals Apple's plan for 2013.
"Apple against Samsung quietly trial production, December edition iPhone (rumored iPhone 5S) of 5 to 10 million units in the first trial production point of view, forecast massive shipment of the first quarter of next year," read the report.
"The industry pointed out that Apple's new machine together, the new version of the iPhone, iPad and iTV in the first half of next year will be launched, including in low-priced products are also expected to debut, breaking Apple over the years, the practice of the year a new machine," continued Commercial Times.
