Bob Weinstein On Brother Harvey Weinstein's Scandal: Harvey Refused 'Getting The Help'

Dimension Films founder Bob Weinstein was known as the reserved younger brother of Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein. But he is now speaking up about the reported sexual misconduct of his powerful older brother.

Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, the newly installed head of The Weinstein Company revealed that he had no idea about the kind of man that his older brother is.

According to the younger Weinstein, the current allegations about his brother's sexual abuses against numerous women in Hollywood caused him a lot of suffering. He also claimed that he and the rest of the board of the film studio that both of them established in 2005 were not aware of his brother's actions even if he knows him on a very personal level.

"It's hard to describe how I feel that he took out the emptiness inside of him in so many sick and depraved ways," the 62-year-old film producer stated.

The younger Weinstein also revealed that he also experienced several types of abuses under his big brother. According to the father of three, he used to be at the receiving end of a lot of verbal abuses as well as a physical one. But he did not want to use his experiences as an excuse to defend his brother.

"I do not put myself in the category at all of those women that he hurt. But it's a complicated situation when it's your brother doing the abusing to you as well," the film producer also said. "I saw it and I asked him to get help for many years. And that's the truth. He avoided getting the help. We begged him."

He also talked about the future of their company, saying that he has no intentions of selling the film outfit that he and his brother founded even if its name had been dragged into the sexual assault allegations. However, he did admit that the board is currently thinking about changing its name.

The news about Harvey Weinstein's sexual abuses started after The New York Times and The New Yorker both reported this month that dozens of women were speaking up about the sexual assaults, harassments, and rape that he committed during the past three decades.

One of the latest victims who came out was the older Weinstein's production assistant in his first film "The Burning" named Paula Wachowiak, who claimed in an article that was published by The Buffalo News that he exposed himself in front of her when she was just 24-years-old.
