Boston Celtics, Chicago Bulls NBA Trade Rumors: Celtics Still Interested in Bulls' Jimmy Butler

The Sacramento Kings just rocked the basketball world by trading DeMarcus Cousins to the New Orleans Pelicans, but he may not be the only superstar changing teams before the trade deadline because Jimmy Butler's name has reappeared in trade rumors.

Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical has reported that talks were heating up between the Boston Celtics and the Chicago Bulls and a trade centered on Butler could still happen. However, he noted that the Bulls were still unsure of the direction they want to take, but they still have a few days to decide. The Bulls are currently seventh in the Eastern Conference.

A. Sherrod Blakely of CSN New England said the Bulls weren't actively shopping Butler to other teams, but they would listen to offers. He also revealed that the Bulls might want "some combination of high draft picks and young veterans" in exchange for Butler.

Well, the Celtics do have a lot of solid young players on their roster and they also have draft picks to spare thanks to the deal they made with the Brooklyn Nets back in 2013. The question is, do the Celtics think Butler can get them over the hump in the Eastern Conference? Are they willing to give up their assets for that possibility?

"That more than anything else, is what will ultimately determine if a deal between the Bulls and the Celtics comes to pass. Boston loves Butler, and believes he could be part of their continued surge towards becoming an elite team that can bring home Banner 18. But the Celtics are not convinced that the addition of Butler would necessarily catapult Boston to the same level of Cleveland or ahead of them," Blakely said on his CSN New England report.

Butler may be the Bulls' best player, but he is not untouchable. His name should continue to come up in the next few days.
