Boxing News 2015: Wladimir Klitschko to Fight Tyson Fury in a 2016 Rematch

Wladimir Klitschko's domination of the heavyweight division came to a close when British fighter Tyson Fury soundly defeated the Ukrainian in Germany to wrest his IBF, WBA, and WBO belts. Fortunately for Klitschko, the fight contract came in with a rematch clause, which means that Fury is obligated to give the defeated champ the chance to slug it out one more time.

And that is exactly what the 39-year-old is planning for next year.

Talking about his goal of winning the titles back, he said that "failure is not an option." He admitted that frustration was on top of his mind the moment he realized he lost the fight, but also said that he's a lot better than what was seen of him against Fury.

The Ukrainian's revelation came in just several days after the year's biggest upset in boxing; with the second longest reigning heavyweight of all time succumbing to the mastery and superior size of the younger Briton.

Fury's victory may have been the most significant heavyweight upset since Hasim Rahman's victory against then champion Lennox Lewis in 2001.

But if there is one man who could have pulled this kind of upset, it's no else but Fury himself. The undefeated fighter is very young and agile for his size. At 27, he hasn't tasted defeat or even came close to being defeated. His record of 25-0, with 18 KOs says a lot about his potential to become boxing's new heavyweight star.

However, just like most other heavyweight fights, the Klitschko-Fury bout didn't have that explosive action found in lower weight classes, but the Briton's size advantage, something that placed the Ukrainian at an unfamiliar disadvantage, was to become his edge in grabbing the titles.

As for the 2016 rematch, it is still unclear how the old former champ can get back, especially considering that he'll be turning 40 next year.
