Brad Pitt: Jennifer Aniston Comments 'Misinterpreted', Claims She 'Remains a Friend'

Comments by Brad Pitt referring to his former marriage to Jennifer Aniston in an interview has created widespread media coverage, much of which accuses the actor of criticizing his ex-wife.

During an interview with Parade magazine promoting his new movie, “Moneyball,” Pitt said, “It became very clear to me that I was so intent on trying to find a movie about an interesting life, but I wasn’t living an interesting life myself.”

“I think that my marriage [to Aniston] had something to do with it. Trying to pretend the marriage was something that it wasn’t.”

Currently in damage control mode, Pitt released a statement to E! News saying his words were “misinterpreted.”

“It grieves me that this was interpreted this way,” Pitt said. “Jen is an incredibly giving, loving, and hilarious woman who remains my friend.”

Of his friendship with his ex wife, Pitt says, “It is a very important relationship I value greatly.”

Further clarifying his comments to Parade, Pitt continued, “The point I was trying to make is not that Jen was dull, but that I was becoming dull to myself- and that, I am responsible for.”

Pitt and Aniston were married in 2000, but the relationship ended very publicly after Pitt developed a relationship with Angelina Jolie.

Pitt and Jolie share six children, and he told Parade magazine, “A family is a risky venture, because the greater the love, the greater the loss… That’s the trade-off. But I’ll take it all.”

“One of the smartest things I ever did was give my kids Angie as their mom,” added Pitt.

The couple has been together for six years under intense media scrutiny, yet the couple has not made the relationship official. Pitt says he and Jolie will marry “when everyone can,” in reference to his support for same-sex marriages.

The new movie “Moneyball,” starring Pitt as the Oakland A’s general manager Billy Beane, is currently in theaters.
