What was supposed to be a special night for the Pitt-Jolie family Wednesday turned out to be a battle as a party-crasher jumped over a barrier and hit Brad Pitt in the face. Vitalii Sediuk was immediately pulled away from Pitt and arrested.

Thankfully, Pitt was not seriously injured during the altercation and was actually nowhere near Angelina Jolie when it happened. He was signing autographs for fans at the "Maleficent" premiere in Los Angeles when Sediuk leaped over a barrier and struck him in the face. Security guards immediately moved in, pulling Pitt back towards safety and wrestling Sediuk to the ground. He was promptly handcuffed and arrested.

Pitt, meanwhile, went right back to greeting fans before the movie started, then walked in with his wife and children. The incident was made a bit more jarring by the fact that all of the kids, minus 5-year-old Vivienne, were present at the screening.

"Well, oddly, we usually go to the El Capitan, that's where we take the kids," Jolie told the press. "That's the closest theater to us. This is the first time they were able to come to mommy's premiere."

Sediuk has a history of bothering celebrities during public events. Most recently, he was the man who put his head up actress America Ferrara's dress at the Cannes premiere of "How to Train Your Dragon 2." In 2012, he was famously slapped by Will Smith after trying to kiss the actor on the red carpet.

He is currently being held in lieu of $20,000 bail and was charged with misdemeanor battery.

"The officers who were handling him said it looked like it was intentional, but at this point, it remains to be determined," Sergeant Leonard Calderon told the press.

"Maleficent" features Jolie as the title villainess in the retelling of Disney's classic fairytale, "Sleeping Beauty." She, along with Vivienne, both star in the movie, which is expected to do quite well this weekend, its opening weekend.
