Brandon Heath, singer-songwriter, held a successful "Love Your Neighbor" benefit concert and also performed at the K-LOVE Fan Awards.
The "Love Your Neighbor" benefit concert is the sixth event hosted by Heath and fellow songwriter Jason Ingram. Held at the Fellowship Bible Church in Brentwood, Tennessee, the show raised more than $16,000 through donations made by the standing room-only audience. The money will be going to New Hope Academy, a privately funded school located in Franklin, Tenn. to serve low income families for students grades pre-Kindergarten through six grade.
Performers at the event included: Heath, Ingram, TobyMac, Mandisa, and Laura Story. Heath performed several songs including his hit "Jesus In Disguise," new single "Love Does" and Ingram performed OSS worship-anthem "Forever Reign." TobyMac performed favorites "Get Back Up" and "City On Our Knees" with Mandisa bringing everyone to their feet with her hits "Stronger" and "Good Morning,"according to Provident Music Group.
The event is free with a donation given by the audience. Every year a different local need is addressed, with 2008 being the first year, raising $20,000 for Nashville tornado victims. In 2010, $61,000 was raised for El Shaddai Church after it was severely damaged by flooding.
Heath's highlights include Billboard magazine, "CBS Evening News with Katie Couric," Relevant magazine, a 2011 feature by the Wall Street Journal and selection as a presenter during the 54th Annual GRAMMY Awards. Other key spotlights include Discovery Channel's "On The Case With Paula Zahn," which highlighted "Give Me Your Eyes" (What If We 8/19/2008), and a feature by The New York Times Sunday edition.
Heath's latest release, Blue Mountain, was released on October 9, 2012.
