Brigitte Nielsen Recounts Affair With Arnold Schwarzenegger: 'A Great Time in My Life' (VIDEO)

A recent memoir written by Arnold Schwarzenegger in "Total Recall: My Unbelievably True Life Story," reveals the actor's confession of his first affair with actress Brigitte Nielsen. But the actress has also told her own side of the story.

In 2011, Schwarzenegger separated from Maria Shriver, his wife of 25 years, following allegations that he had an affair and father a child with the household employee Mildred Patricia 'Patty' Baena. The incident had occurred 14 years prior, but did not stop Shriver from packing her bags.

In his newly released memoir, Schwarzenegger has admitted to a second affair with Brigitte Nielsen that took place early on while he and Shriver were still dating. But this is not the first time that the affair has been made public. In her own memoir released a year before, Nielsen also spoke of the encounter that took place between the two co-stars while filming the 1985 film "Red Sonja."

On her side of the story, Nielsen echoed similar sentiments to that of Schwarzenegger.

"We both knew that it wouldn't last beyond the movie, we didn't hold back,'' she told The Herald Sun. "We wanted to try everything and so we did. There were no restrictions, no promises, nothing, and it was a great time in my life.''

Nielsen suggested that the affair might have been avoided, had she known the actor was serious about Shriver.

"Maybe I wouldn't have got into it if he said 'I'm going to marry Maria' and this is dead serious, but he didn't, and our affair carried on,'' Neilsen said.

Nielsen also said that she felt badly for Shriver after his latest affair was revealed.

"I'm surprised Arnold thought he could get away with it and I feel bad for Maria," she said. "It breaks my heart because he and Maria have four kids and you don't just have a baby with someone else."

While Schwarzenegger never proposed to Nielsen or anything of the sort, she did believe that at the time he was "in love with her."
