Britney Spears' cover photo on Lucky magazine has stirred controversy, as the pop star's hair appears unnatural.

The "X-Factor" judge dons a festive red skirt paired with a black top in the photo in the magazine's December issue, but her blonde locks do not match her usual look.

Many fans are speculating that Spears is wearing a wig in the photo since her hair line begins lower than when the singer is seated at the judges table on "X-Factor."

Moreover, the pop star's hair appears fuller with a different texture, furthering rumors of either extreme photoshopping or that a wig was used during the shoot.

One Twitter user posted a message directed at Lucky magazine, writing: "Did @britneyspears even show up to the photoshoot or did you just photoshop her face on a body?"

Fashionista posted, "Does Britney Spears look a little…. Different… here on Lucky's cover?"

Celebrity columnist Perez Hilton posted, "Who told my beloved @BritneySpears she should wear a wig on the cover and inside the new issue of 'Lucky' magazine? NO!"

Lucky magazine caught wind of gossip surrounding the images of Spears earlier this week.

"Thank you all for sharing your thoughts on our cover," the magazine posted to Twitter. "As always, we will share with our team and we're sorry to have let some of you down."

While her photos with Lucky magazine disappointed fans, Spears' interview revealed some of the singer's fashion secrets.

"I never wear socks," said the "Hold It Against Me" singer speaking to Lucky, via Yahoo.com. "I hate socks."

Meanwhile, Spears remains busy with "The X-Factor" as well as the upcoming campaign for her Fantasy Twist perfume. The pop star also has two sons and is engaged to Jason Trawick.

Additionally, Spears has been embroiled in a legal battle against her ex-manager Sam Lutfi who is also suing her parents, Jamie and Lynne Spears.
