Brooklyn Nets Injury News: Brook Lopez Has Sore Right Foot in Loss to Bucks

The Brooklyn Nets thought they'll see a much better start of the season this year compared to last year. Although it is still early, the team has zero wins in seven games; and if that's not enough, it looks like star center Brook Lopez is injured after the loss to the Bucks Saturday night.

Losing seven straight games and no wins to show to open the season is a nightmare for every team, but when Lopez left the game with an apparent sore right foot, it seems like the Nets' season is all over when everyone else is still getting warmed up.

The only good news here is that X-rays were negative according to team officials, but it isn't clear if the 10th overall pick of the 2008 NBA Draft will be subjected to additional tests, probably an MRI. It is also unclear how Lopez got the injury, but it is no surprise to mostly everyone who follows the Nets; the young center has had three previous surgeries on that same right foot for the past year and a half.

In the 94-86 loss to the Milwaukee Bucks, he played almost 30 minutes before leaving the game in the third quarter. At that point, he had his game going, producing 20 points on top of four rebounds. In the loss to the Lakers on Friday, Lopez played almost 40 minutes.

While team officials revealed the injury, there is no further information provided about how many games the center will miss or if he's going to be re-evaluated and further tested. The 27-year-old is one of the most fragile players in the league when it comes to foot injuries, having previously broken the fifth metatarsal in his right foot twice, which led him to miss a number of games.

This is definitely bad news for a franchise that has been struggling as of late. General Manager Billy King confidently said before the season that Lopez won't be given restricted time on the floor after signing with the team for another three years. But it looks like that plan will have to change.
