'Call the Midwife' Season 3 Spoilers: Finale Brings Tears, Joy for Nurses and Sisters (TRAILER VIDEO)

It's been an interesting season of "Call the Midwife," with many changes and surprises. This Sunday, though, U.S. fans will say "goodbye" to one leading character and revel in the joy of another. Read on to know all you need to know for Sunday.

It's been revealed that lead character Nurse Jenny Lee will be permanently leaving Nonnatus House in order to become a Marie Curie nurse. In the last episode, it was clear that Nurse Lee wanted to spend more time with her patients instead of merely signing them in and signing them out. After helping tend to Chummy's terminally ill mother, Nurse Lee makes the decision to follow her heart and take care of those who are dying.

Jessica Raine decided to leave the series in order to pursue a career on the big screen. Yet she is grateful for her time on "Call the Midwife."

"I would like to explore comedy. I want to do more theater, and I definitely want a future in film," Raine told the U.K. Mirror. "I love science-fiction."

"It's been a real privilege to help bring Jenny Lee's story alive and amazingly satisfying to see how the public have embraced the series, but as is in keeping with Jenny's story, it's time for me to explore pastures new," she also told The Independent.

But while Jenny Lee is moving on, a new cast member is coming to London. Shelagh and Dr. Turner are approved to adopt a baby girl and welcome her with open arms. It's a joy for the couple who thought they would not be able to adopt since Turner had kept pertinent information about his medical and psychological history from the adoption agency. It's a time of joy for the family, especially Shelagh, who was devastated to learn that she could not have children due to illness.

The series has been renewed for a fourth season, which will air in early 2015 in Europe.
