Candy Crush Saga One Year Anniversary Reveals 150 Billion Games Played Since Launch

Candy Crush Saga creator, King, has announced that over 150 billion games of Candy Crush have been played in just the one year that it has been around.

King released statistics for the game for their one year anniversary to show off the popularity for the social media and mobile played game that has been downloaded over 500 million times.

"The past year has been one of the most exciting times for King since Candy Crush Saga launched on mobile," said Tommy Palm, Games Guru at King, in a statement. "The incredible milestone of more than half a billion downloads of the game, as well as the continued enthusiasm from our community, really delights the entire King team. Fans can look forward to even more exciting new Candy Crush Saga content over the coming months, including an exciting new twist to the game."

According to National Monitor, Candy Crush is earning King, $633,000 a day, which pans out to around $230 million in revenue annually.

Other statistics released by King indicate that the hardest level is number 65, while 78 percent of those who play, do while watching television.

The game plays in the same fashion as former popular browser game, Bejeweled, where three candies need to be matched in a line. Players can only move vertically or horizontally. The Facebook version of the game has 500 levels with a new one appearing every three weeks while the mobile version has around 455.

According to Appdevice.com, the Candy Crush Saga game is the third most popular free app, and the highest grossing in the Google Play store.

The game was released for Facebook on April 12 2012, iPhone/iPad on November 14 2012, and Android, December 14 2012.
