'Captain America 3' Release Date 2016 News: Pepper Potts and Red Skull to Appear in Film?

It has been previously reported that Robert Downey Jr.'s Tony Stark will be going up against Captain America in "Captain America: Civil War." And while Tony's close friend, James Rhodes (Don Cheadle) will be featured in next year's "The Avengers: Age of Ultron," fans are wondering whether Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow) will be making an appearance alongside Iron Man in any of the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe movies.

In an interview with Dish Nation, Paltrow said that she heard rumors that Pepper Potts could be part of the third installment of Captain America. Though there is no confirmation from Marvel about these rumors, Paltrow hopes that she can join in on the action.

"My fingers are crossed," says Paltrow. "I would love to be Pepper Potts again at some point in my life."

Meanwhile, another character who is rumored to be in the third Captain America film is the Red Skull, which was played by Hugo Weaving in "Captain America: The First Avenger." Weaving agreed to a long-term contract with Marvel at the time of his signing, yet his character has not been seen since the first Captain America movie.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Weaving was asked if Red Skull will be back in "Captain America: Civil War."

"I have absolutely no idea," he said. "I haven't talked to anyone about it, so yeah, we'll just have to wait and see. No idea at all."

For now, Paltrow will be seen by movie goers in next year's heist film "Mortdecai" with Johnny Depp, while Weaving can be seen in this year's critically acclaimed drama, "The Mule."

"Captain America: Civil War" will be in theaters on May 6, 2016.
