'Captain America: Civil War' News: Tom Holland Worked Hard To Bag Spiderman Role, Says Jon Bernthal

Tom Holland worked hard to bag the Spiderman role. This was the revelation made by actor Jon Bernthal, who, at one point, was able to work with the young actor who breathes life to the latest big screen incarnation of Spiderman.

After it was long speculated that Spiderman would be part of Marvel's upcoming release "Captain America: Civil War," all rumors and speculations were finally confirmed when the latest trailer of the said movie was released last month. Following the footsteps of Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield, Tommy Holland breathes life anew to Spiderman via "Captain America: Civil War."

However, Bernthal disclosed that clinching the Spiderman role didn't just land on the lap of Holland. Bernthal said that the young actor worked hard as he inched his way to the suit of the web-spurting superhero.

"I worked with Tom intensely in Ireland on the movie that we did; a group of us were all living in a remote part of Western Ireland, eating every meal together, on set all day with each other. And I got to tell you, in all my years in Hollywood, I'm probably more impressed with Tom Holland than anyone else I've ever met. For a guy his age, he's a force of nature. I saw him go through the process of trying to win that role. He fought for it. He just went out and got it. That's not an easy feat," said Bernthal, who himself recently heaped praises for his impressive performance as The Punisher in Netflix's "Daredevil" season two.

Meanwhile, basing on the trailer of "Captain America: Civil War," it is safe to assume that Holland's Spiderman is taking sides in the story as he is seen snatching Captain America's shield upon the command of Tony Stark/Iron Man. According to Robert Downey, Jr., viewers can expect his Iron Man character to do things unbecoming of him as influenced by the change in the politics in Washington.

It was also revealed that the upcoming Marvel movie will have a heart-wrenching ending, which only sends people into suspicion that the movie will follow the comic book storyline of "Civil War," wherein Captain America is shot dead.

Holland's version of Spiderman in "Captain America: Civil War" is already the third for the character in this millennium. From 2002 to 2007, Maguire starred in three films of his version of the superhero. In 2012, Garfield donned the costume for the very first time and was followed by another one released in 2014.
