'Captain Marvel' Movie Cast Rumors, News: 'Edge Of Tomorrow' Star in Talks for the Role?
After their big success on the sci-fi movie "Edge of Tomorrow" with action star Tom Cruise, Emily Blunt's name is attached to Marvel on its upcoming Phase Three project.
Fans of the cinematic universe have long been speculating who Marvel would call on to play a lead role in "Captain Marvel" standalone movie, which as reported, would be the studio's first film to feature a female hero.
ScreenCrush, who interviewed the 31-year-old actress during her promotional tour for the movie "Into the Woods," said that Blunt find the rumors "quite flattering" although she admits that she hasn't talked yet with the company.

After some explanations, about the real nature of the character and the talks that has been going around the Internet, the site asked the "Looper" actress what she think about the "fancasting."
"I think, it's always for me, it's always about— and now, more so— what am I putting out there? What would be interesting for me and what would be interesting for people to see. So, if it's an awesome part, it doesn't matter if it's a Marvel movie or a tiny movie, I'd be up for it," she said.
When the gravity of the role was explained -- she would be the first heroine to be featured) -- Blunt seemed excited.
"That's huge. How awesome. I love this. No one has actually called me about it, so, we'll hold our breath," the actress said.
For those who have been following the talks, they may remember that this isn't the first time that Blunt's name was mentioned. Cinema Blend once reported that "The Five-Year Engagement" star was once rooted to take up the role of Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow for "Iron Man 2."
However, she didn't make it to the deal as she was tied up with another film project with 20th Century Fox at that time.
"Captain Marvel" is slated to open in theaters sometime in 2019.
