'Castle' Season 8 Spoilers & Update: Series Returns Early 2016, Rick & Kate To Find Back Their Feelings For Each Other?

Fans of the American crime drama series "Castle" will be delighted to know that waiting for its return after the winter finale will not take too long. According to Enstars, the murder mystery series will be taking a break during the month of December. But instead of the initial report that it will have an extended hiatus, the show is hitting the small screen earlier than expected.

ABC originally planned to premiere the show by February. But upon the release of their winter schedule, it revealed that "Castle" season 8b will return on Monday, Jan. 4, 2016. The reason for the change in plans and making it arrive earlier was not disclosed by the network.

Loyal followers of the show are looking out for what will happen next to the main characters Rick Castle (Nathan Fillion) and Kate Beckett (Stana Katic) after they broke up at the end of the current season's second episode. The latter wanted to separate from the former so that she could protect him while she goes out to investigate the LokSat/Bracken (Jack Coleman) case.

However, it seems like things are heading back to the right direction after the steamy reconnection the two had at the end of episode 7. According to International Business Times, the couple had a "time out from the time out" and it may be stretched out as the upcoming episode will show them sailing in a cruise ship. Unfortunately, it's not really for a vacation but to conduct an investigation into an entertainer's murder.

While investigating the crime scene, the cruise ship suddenly started to sail. Rick and Kate are stranded on the ship but the mystery novelist doesn't seem to mind being stuck with the NYPD detective at all. The promo clip release even showed Rick imitating Jack from the movie "Titanic."

Fans of the loveteam are crossing their fingers that their cruise ship staycation will be the time for them to rekindle their relationship.

"Castle" season 8 airs Mondays at 10 p.m. EST on ABC.
