Caylee Anthony's 6th Birthday Marked With Memorial Plans

A nonprofit organization, Bring Kids Home, revealed design plans for a memorial to honor Caylee Anthony, who would have celebrated her sixth birthday today.

The charity will present the community with its plans on Tuesday evening near the location where Caylee’s body was discovered in east Orange County, Florida.

A makeshift memorial of stuffed animals and balloons currently rests in the area, but Eddie Delvalle, of Bring Kids Home, said he wants to build an official tribute to Caylee, reported WKMG News.

The monument will include a walkway or brick wall, honoring victims of abuse.

“We’re looking for people to buy the bricks. That is going to help with the construction. They can put personalized messages on the bricks,” Delvalle told WKMG News.

The nonprofit group would need the county to make a special exception to the zoning of the property and if approved they would have to go through the permitting process.

There is no word yet if the community approved the idea, but people have expressed support.

“You need some kind of closure. I feel like we never got closure for this poor child,” Carol Medor told WKMG News.

The meeting will start at 6 p.m. Tuesday, August 9, and Bring Kids Home asks the public to bring a balloon to be released in Caylee’s memory.

Caylee Anthony was reported missing by her grandmother, Cindy Anthony, in July 2008, about a month after she was last seen alive. Her remains were later discovered in December 2008.

Caylee’s mother, Casey Anthony was arrested for the alleged murder of her daughter. On July 5, 2011 after weeks of a volatile trial, the jury found Casey Anthony not guilty – a verdict that sparked reactions of outrage and disbelief.

Anthony went into hiding after she was acquitted, but has since been ordered to return to Orange County, Florida to serve her probation on a check fraud conviction.
