Gary Shapiro, president and chief executive officer of Consumer Technology Association (CTA), and Netflix chief executive officer Reed Hastings will be at the Palazzo Ballroom in Venetian in the morning.

At 1 to 2 p.m., General Motors chief executive officer Mary Barra will be at the Westgate Theater, while IBM chairman, president, and chief executive officer Ginni Rometty will take over the Palazzo Ballroom in Venetian from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.

SuperSessions

CES 2016 will have plenty of conferences that tackle significant issues affecting consumer technology. Three such conferences are scheduled on Jan. 6.

"Insights with the FCC and FTC" will be a discussion on challenges that face the agencies — represented by FTC's Edith Ramirez and FCC's Tom Wheeler — in effectively doing their roles in a rapidly changing technological landscape. The conference starts at 11:30 a.m. and ends 12:30 p.m. at the LVCC, North Hall, Room N257.

In the afternoon, at 1 to 2 p.m. at the same venue, the CTA will present "An Inside Look: Industry Innovators and Government Join Forces." The conference aims to provide insight into the collaboration that is "moving the needle" on topics like smart cities and entrepreneurship, as well as discuss issues shaping new opportunities in the industry. Speakers include Tracy Chou from Pinterest, Carl Bass of Autodesk, Albrey Brown of Telegraph Academy, and more.

The last conference of the day will be presented by CNET. "The Next Big Thing: Is Typing Dead?" will be held at the same venue at 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. It will touch on the topic of how people interact with their devices and other machines. The voice of Siri, Susan Bennett, will be there along with other influencers, specialists, and industry experts.

Events

Many events are scheduled for the day. These include a couple dealing with fitness technology and several talking about cyber security, including data security and consumer privacy. White hats or ethical hackers will be at the event to reveal security weaknesses in computer systems and devices. There's even an event on "Mr. Robot," a hit series in the United States.

There will be talks on connected cars, automated cars, and automotive solutions. New technology like wearables, smart devices, 3D printing, drones, and high-tech beauty are also topics worth hearing about.

Virtual reality, augmented reality, wireless technology, and Internet of things (IoT) will also be discussed in several events. In addition, some events will also tackle IoT and connected home, how technology will shape the future of work, the future of TV, medical innovations, gaming, and entertainment.

Celebrities

A number of celebrities will be at CES 2016's first day. There's Nick Cannon at the C Space Storyteller conference in ARIA, Level 1, Pinyon 5.

"Hell's Kitchen" season 10 finalist Dana Cohen will be at Haier America's booth at LVCC, Central Hall.

Larry Johnson, Larry Nance, and Adonal Foyle, all former NBA stars, will be at ZTE in LVCC, South Hall. NFL legend Tony Gonzalez will be at Fitbit's booth in Sands, Hall C.

As for viewing new products and technology, exhibit halls open at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 6.

Organized annually by the Consumer Technology Association, the trade (formerly Consumer Electronics Show) show this year will be at Las Vegas, Nevada. CES 2016 will last for four days from Jan. 6 to Jan. 9.
