Chargers Kicker Nick Novak 'Relieves Himself' on NFL Sidelines (Video)

In addition to missing a field goal attempt at the 53-yard line during overtime that would have ensured a San Diego Chargers win, kicker Nick Novak was also seen urinating on the sideline in the fourth quarter of the game.

Although his reaction during an informal press conference in the locker room just after the game indicated that he was less affected by being seen urinating in public than he was by his performance in the divisional match.

The game was tied at 13 when Denver Broncos kicker Matt Prater successfully booted off a 24-yard field goal attempt with just 1:34 of regulation time remaining.

CBS cameras reveled what Novak was up to while the San Diego Charger offensive line was getting ready to secure the kicker’s range at a sufficient field goal attempt.

Kneeling down beside a water cooler Novak was seen “relieving himself” as a teammate attempted to secure his discretion by covering him with a towel.

Evidently, sideline urination during game time is fairly common. When Novak was asked about the incident by a camera crew in the locker room he responded, “If we got to go, we take a knee by the water cooler.”

“I usually go two three times a game,” he added. “If you guys pay attention to that you’ll see quite a few guys going to the bathroom.”

Novak added, “we can’t really run inside to do it you know. We just take a knee and your teammates hold up towels.”

Novak was visibly distraught from the divisional loss admitting to reporters after being asked about conditions that may have affected his accuracy that, “I didn’t do my job.”
He went on to quickly dismiss whatever minor humiliation would have been felt by telling reporters, “It’s kind of embarrassing but, oh well.”
