Chicago Bears Host Mark Sanchez on Free-Agent Visit
The Chicago Bears already have a starting quarterback in Mike Glennon, and a backup in Connor Shaw. But it looks like they are thinking of adding one more to their quarterback corps.
According to NFL.com's Mike Garafolo, the Bears are going to bring Mark Sanchez in for a free-agent visit on Thursday.
Well, this is an interesting development. Adding a veteran to back up Glennon is actually a good move, but Bears fans don't really like the idea of signing Sanchez. There are still a few solid quarterbacks available on the free-agent market, so why not pursue one of them?

CSN Chicago's James Miller seems to think Sanchez will fit in with the Bears, but other pundits like CBS Sports' Rich Gannon believe it's an "accident waiting to happen."
Sanchez was drafted fifth overall by New York Jets in the 2009 National Football League (NFL) draft, but he failed to develop into the franchise quarterback they thought he would become. He played behind Dak Prescott last season with the Dallas Cowboys and he did a good job in helping the rookie adjust to life in the big leagues.
He appeared in only two games last season, completing 10 of 18 passes and throwing two interceptions.
Meanwhile, Adam L. Jahns of the Chicago Sun-Times has also reported that the Bears are still going to select a quarterback in this year's draft even if they sign Sanchez or another veteran.
"It's best to be deep at the position. Last season, the Bears started three — Jay Cutler, Brian Hoyer and Matt Barkley — because of injuries. Shaw also broke his leg in the preseason. Sanchez, 30, didn't turn into the franchise quarterback the Jets had hoped for, but he still can be a serviceable backup. He has a 37–35 record in seven seasons," Jahns said in his report.
"Sanchez could help Glennon deal with the scrutiny and pressure of being a quarterback in a major market," he continued.
