'Chicago Fire' Season 3 Premiere Date, News: Sept. 23 Air Date, New Character to Break the Severide-Lindsay Love Story?

Earlier this year, NBC renewed its original drama series "Chicago Fire" for a third season. The show's incoming season will premiere on Sept. 23, 2014 at 9 p.m.

Aside from the premiere date, there has been big casting news circulating about "Chicago Fire" when it returns. For one, there's a report about "Graceland" star Serinda Swan appearing on the show. It was rumored that she'd be another person bound to break the Severide-Lindsay love story (played by Taylor Kinney and Sophia Bush respectively.)

Swan is set to appear in at least four episodes as Brittany Baker, a graphic designer who might strike a romantic interest with the Lieutenant, according to Deadline.

In a recent talk with showrunner Matt Olmstead in TV Guide, the executive producer revealed that though both will still be together, fireworks will continue to spark between Lindsay and her partner Halmstead.

Survivors will likely be going through a rough time following the catastrophic event which happened in the last season.

"A lot of ramifications in terms of not everybody makes it, and those who do make it, their lives take some turns because of it," Olmstead teased TV Line.

Also included in the report is the assumption that the death of a recurring character might be revealed in the forthcoming season.

Catermatt, on the other hand, shared their bit of speculations that perhaps it would be safe to say that fans will still see more of Jesse Spencer's Matthew Casey and Severide "mostly because so much has been made about their future."
