Worship artist Rebecca St. James married Jacob Fink at the Junipero Serra Museum in San Diego.

The intimate ceremony took place in front of close friends and family at midday on Saturday.

The museum is near the site of California’s first mission, founded by Spanish Franciscan missionary Father Junipero Serra in 1769.

She wrote on her Facebook page: “Today has been a very special day for which I waited a long time. I married the love of my life, Jacob. Thanks so much for your prayers and support.”

The wedding comes four months after Jacob proposed to Rebecca at her family farm in Franklin, Tennessee, on Christmas Day.

In an earlier interview with The Christian Post, the award winning Christian artist commented on the meaning of marriage as "unity."

"It means strength because I believe that both people can be stronger in their calling because of each other, and I really see that in Jacob and my individual lives – that we’re stronger together," she said. "I believe that marriage is a representation of Christ and the church and when Christ and the church are unified, they are the strongest and most attractive to those that don’t know Jesus and I also think that when husband and wife are united, they are strongest and most attractive to those that don’t know Jesus.

"We have a real desire to be glorifying to God in our life and our coming marriage. I just believe that marriage is a beautiful representation of God’s love for us and that there is such a cherishing that can happen in marriage that is different from any other relationship."

Fink is originally from Colorado and previously spent two years as a missionary in South Africa, before studying communications at college and entering the music industry.

The couple met through mutual friends in Los Angeles.

St. James has earned the respect of girls and women around the world with her message of purity before marriage, and her signature song, “Wait For Me,” released back in 2000, was a declaration of her commitment to live out her message.

Her new studio album I Will Praise You, her first since 2005, was released this month.

Never one to rest on her laurels, St. James is putting the finishing touches to her ninth book, What Is He Thinking, due out in September.
