The principal of a South Carolina Christian prepatory school was arrested Friday for allegedly performing oral sex on three male minors.
Louis "Skip" ReVille, the 32-year-old principal in the upper school of Coastal Christian Preparatory School in Mount Pleasant, was arrested for three counts of unlawful sexual behavior and three counts of lewd acts with a minor, as reported by local Charleston television station ABC News Channel 4.
Police say ReVille admitted to sexually assaulting three male boys between the ages of 13 and 15 years old. School board chair Brent Egan said none of the victims are students at CCP.
In a stroke of pure coincidence, Darkness to Light, an organization that seeks to end child sexual abuse, was conducting its Stewards of Children, a routine awareness event at Coastal Preparatory School last Friday, Oct. 28.
Jolie Logan, Chief Operating Officer of Darkness to Light told The Christian Post Tuesday that this incident is an example in which to learn from.
“This situation is a reminder to everyone, to organizations, schools and parents alike, to be educated on how to prevent this from happening. It can be prevented by following simple steps,” she said.
Logan also told CP that it is common for those inflicting sexual abuse to be a familiar individual within an unsuspecting community.
“It is typically someone who everyone knows and trusts,” said Logan, who sternly advocates for people to learn how to identify red flags.
School administrators say they had no hunch about ReVille’s alleged potential for sexual assault. Egan expressed bewilderment in media interviews about ReVille’s arrest.
"Certainly all of us associated with the school and church are absolutely devastated by the news," he said.
According to Catholic Diocese of Charlestown spokeswoman Maria Aselage, ReVille coached sports teams with Mount Pleasant Recreation as well as Bishop England High School’s tennis team for three seasons.
The Mount Pleasant Police Department are investigating the potential for other victims. Anyone with information can contact the police department at (843) 884-4176.
On Darkness to Light’s website, the group lists seven steps to protecting children from sexual abuse here. Logan reminded CP, "Sexual abuse can be prevented. It takes people understanding the common steps."
The mission statement of Coastal Christian Preparatory is "preparing students for life: academically, physically, spiritually and emotionally." The school is located close to downtown Charlestown at 681 McCants Drive in the Old Village of Mount Pleasant.
