Fans of the actress immediately flocked to social networking site Twitter to weigh in on her pregnancy news.

"Claire Danes is pregnant !? That is just too cute for words," Hannah George tweeted.

"Uh oh! How they gonna write this into @SHO_Homeland >> REPORT: CLAIRE DANES IS PREGNANT," Mich Sineath tweeted.

The renowned actress currently stars in the popular television series "Homeland," in which she plays a CIA agent who is secretly suffering from bipolar disorder.

"Homeland" is said to be based on the hit Israeli TV series "Hatufim" (Kidnapped). Executive producer Alex Gansa recently revealed what the series has in store for season two amid concerns that Danes' pregnancy may affect the filming of the show.

"We have the ability now to jump time between seasons- so don't be surprised if we don't pick up the very next day. By jumping some time, we're going to be able to put our characters in different places than they have been this season. There will be a reset, probably after a jump in time, and both [Carrie and Brody] will be in very different places than they are now." a source reveald.

"The centre of season two will be the same as the centre of season one and that is the Carrie-Brody relationship," the source added.

Danes, who married Dancy in a private ceremony in France during 2009, previously spoke out about the confidence she gained through marriage.

"My mom Carla taught me that a long marriage can work. My parents have been together since they were 18 so I am privileged to have them as role models," Danes said.

"I like marriage. I feel very secure. It helps when you are in love with the person you are married to," she added. "I do sometimes look at him and think, 'You are really handsome.' He keeps me sane and happy."
