Cleveland Browns Wide Receiver Corey Coleman Breaks Hand, Out Indefinitely

The Cleveland Browns probably couldn't help but feel a sense of déjà vu when they saw Corey Coleman injured his hand this past Sunday.

For the second season in a row, the wide receiver has fractured his right hand and he will likely miss a significant amount of time after he had surgery on Monday.

ESPN's Pat McManamon has also noted that the Browns are expected to place him on the injured reserve list. That means he will be allowed to participate in practice after six weeks (once he's cleared) and he will be eligible to return in eight weeks.

"It's unfortunate. But those things happen," Browns head coach Hue Jackson said, via ESPN. "It almost feels like to him the same time, different year. Around the same time here comes the injury, and it's unfortunate. But it's something that we go through and we got to get through it," he added.

Coleman fell awkwardly on his right hand after he collided with Ravens cornerback Marlon Humphrey on an incomplete pass in the fourth quarter of their 24-10 loss to the Baltimore Ravens last Sunday. He made one catch for nine yards before he was taken out of the game.

The second-year pro suffered a similar injury in practice before their third game of the season last year. He didn't undergo surgery, but he still missed six games due to the injury.

With Coleman on the sidelines, the Browns' other wide receivers will have to step up.

"There's going to be another guy to come in and try to work his butt off to try to fill that gap. We know that Corey is a special player for us and a big playmaker for us. We have to find someone else to step in in that role," DeShone Kizer said, according to ESPN.

Veteran wide receiver Kenny Britt has continued to struggle this season, but Rashard Higgins did a good job last Sunday. Ricardo Louis and Sammie Coates should see some action as well.
