Cleveland Cavaliers NBA Trade and Roster Rumors: Cavs Not Looking to Trade Kevin Love

Kevin Love's name has been bandied about in multiple trade rumors ever since he joined the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2014. It happens every year. He's always the scapegoat whenever they struggle and talks about trading him tend to increase whenever they lose in the National Basketball Association (NBA) finals.

In fact, the Cavaliers actually tried to trade him earlier this summer to acquire Paul George. However, the Indiana Pacers ended up moving the All-Star wing to the Oklahoma City Thunder instead.

A lot of people think that it's only going to be a matter of time before his name comes up again in trade talks this offseason, but ESPN's Zach Lowe has reported that the Cavaliers are no longer looking to move him.

With Isaiah Thomas expected to miss an extended amount of time due to a hip injury, the Cavaliers need Love to step up this season and they are planning to make him a focal point on offense. Interestingly, they may even play him more at center this season.

The four-time All-Star had to accept a lesser role on offense when he joined the Cavaliers. Despite his talent, he was used as a glorified stretch-four most of the time since LeBron James and Kyrie Irving gets most of the touches. However, that should change with Irving gone, and Cavaliers head coach Tyronn Lue think he's going to have an excellent season.

"Kevin is going to have the best year that he's had here. I thought he was great anyway. You keep bringing up Bosh. What did Bosh average in Miami? Kevin averaged almost 20 [points] and 10 [rebounds] with two other All-Stars. If you are on a championship-caliber team, you have to sacrifice. But this year is going to be a big opportunity for him. We're going to play through him more. He's going to get those elbow touches again," Lue told ESPN.
