CM Punk News: Potential UFC Debut Opponent Of Former WWE Superstar Speaks Up

Former World Wrestling Entertainment superstar turned UFC fighter CM Punk is finally getting a potential opponent for his much-awaited UFC debut.

In a report by Hunter A. Homistek for MMA Fighting, whether or not 23-year-old welterweight Mickey Gall would be Punk's viable opponent for his debut fight has yet to be determined.

The New Jersey native currently holds a professional record of 1-0 and an amateur record of 2-0. UFC President Dana White discovered Gall through his new reality show entitled "Looking For A Fight," where he scours the United States' local mixed martial arts circuits to find a potential addition to their roster.

It is the same show where White, along with former UFC welterweight champion Matt Serra and childhood friend Nick "The Tooth" Gullo, spotted new lightweight sensation Sage Northcutt.

According to the report, White found out about Gall in Philadelphia, where he watched the young fighter win against Ron Templeton with a first round submission. The said event was called "Dead Serious MMA 17".

According to the report, Gall says upon finding out that White and company would be watching him fight, he immediately conditioned himself to be in his A-game on the said night. Upon his victory, he also added that he did not think twice about calling out Punk and that the UFC needed to find a "light record" and not some "9-1 guy."

"He's 0-0. I'm 1-0. That's a light record," Gall added. "The commission will approve that. I can fight that dude and make the most of that opportunity."

Gall trains with mixed martial arts veteran brothers Jim and Dan Miller, the New Jersey branch of the Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Academy, and the American Top Team gym in Allentown.

He currently holds a brown belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

Punk, on the other hand, was announced to be part of the UFC roster in December 2014, during the UFC 181 pay-per-view broadcast. He currently trains under Duke Roufus in Milwaukee.

He was slated to make his debut last December, but an injury forced him to the sidelines, making his debut still indefinite, as of this posting.
