Conor McGregor News: José Aldo Says 'The Notorious' Will Be Beltless Before Year is Out

Former long-time UFC featherweight champion José Aldo is confident that current 145-pound king and lightweight title challenger Conor McGregor will end up with no titles by the end of the year 2016.

McGregor defeated Aldo in their title fight at UFC 194 last December 12th in Las Vegas through one counter left hand that ended the fight within 13 seconds. After his highlight reel finish, "The Notorious" immediately called out current lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos, with the goal of becoming the first fighter in UFC history to hold two belts simultaneously.

The UFC did heed McGregor's request and the fight between them is now scheduled to take place at UFC 196 on March 5 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

For his part, Aldo is still aching for a rematch against the brash Irishman, whom he experienced incessant verbal torture from through the build-up of their fight. But as for the upcoming fight, he only believes in one thing: McGregor will end up without any UFC gold around his waist by the end of 2016.

"I'll say this: I don't think he will have any belt by the end of the year," Aldo said in a report by MMA Fighting. "And everyone will forget him. He has this dream, this goal, but you can be sure that he won't have any (belt) by the end of the year."

As of the moment, Aldo is in the sidelines waiting for whatever the UFC puts in front of him, as far as his next opponent goes. He joins the list of disgruntled UFC fighters, such as Frankie Edgar, who are not enjoying the current attention McGregor is getting from top management.

But while he is a spectator as of the moment, waiting his turn for a second crack at McGregor, he rightfully is rooting for his fellow countryman in dos Anjos, whom he expects will end up victorious come fight night.

"I'm a patriot Brazilian and I will always root for a Brazilian no matter what," Aldo said.
