Conor McGregor News: UFC President Dana White Believes 'The Notorious' Can Become Two-Weight Champion
UFC president Dana White has seemingly changed his mind about featherweight champion Conor McGregor's intention to also become the company's lightweight champion.
After UFC 194 on December 12, when McGregor ended José Aldo's title reign, White shut down the Irishman's idea of fighting for the 155-pound title while holding on to his 145-pound title as well. But after almost a month since the said event, White has changed his tune, as he now believes "The Notorious" could actually pull off holding both belts, simultaneously.
"Conor has said that he would like to win the 155-pound belt and fight four times a year and defend both belts," White said in a report by MMA Fighting. "If anybody can do it, Conor McGregor can. This guy has pretty done everything he said he would do. I'm interested."

McGregor knocked Aldo out within 13 seconds of their main event bout, marking the fastest finish in UFC title fight history. Rousey once held the said record, when she finished Cat Zingano within 14 seconds at UFC 184 last March.
White originally declared that former lightweight champion Frankie Edgar would be fighting for the world featherweight strap next, after his first round knockout finish of two-time title contender Chad Mendes at the Ultimate Fighter 22 Finale a day before UFC 194.
However, it seems the UFC management is leaning towards McGregor facing Rafael dos Anjos instead. According to MMA Fighting, the match between the two fighters seems set to be held on March 5, 2016 at UFC 197. Dos Anjos was able to defend his title against Donald Cerrone on December 19th at UFC on FOX 17th via a first round knockout victory.
So far, McGregor has fulfilled all his pre-fight predictions, which are often deemed as arrogant trash talk. But being able to back his words up made McGregor an instant fan-favorite. This, according to White, is one of the reasons he made an exception for McGregor's case.
"Conor has done everything he said he would do," White said. "He loves to fight. He really likes money, so if anybody could do it, it's probably him."
