'Constantine' Season 1 Episode 8 Spoilers; Season 2 Rumors – 'There's an Excellent Chance'

In the upcoming episode of the hit supernatural TV series "Constantine," spoiler reports suggest that John (Matt Ryan) and Chas (Charles Harlford) will be visiting a convent in Mexico City to lend a hand to an old friend, Sister Anne Marie (guest star Claire van der Boom).

The nun is a member of the "fateful" Newcastle crew. The quest, in the meantime, is said to bring them closer to the source of The Rising Darkness.

However, as the synopsis for the forthcoming segment suggests, a demonic entity will be causing trouble in the locale and that it will require some "digging up of a baby's placenta" which was buried in the first place for good luck.

Meanwhile, Zed (Angelica Celaya) will be confronted by something/someone from her past.

But just as the TV show is coming to a close, "Constantine" fans might need to keep their fingers crossed as recent news about the program getting a second helping suggests that "there's an excellent chance" for it to return on air.

Executive producer David S. Goyer, as reported by Enstarz.com, said that there's still "an excellent chance for a second season."

The announcement comes after the EP talked about the production halt of "Hellblazer" adaptation in November. The showrunner pointed out that although "Constantine" still hasn't received a full-season order, NBC, on the other hand, hasn't announced its cancellation.

"It's not dead, at all -- it's solidly in contention for a second season of NBC, which is still supporting it," the executive producer said.

"Constantine got caught in the midst of a change that is happening at the networks. It gets big numbers on DVR and online views, but it is sort of a tweener that doesn't fit the traditional viewing box at the big networks. It's not State Of Affairs, it's just not that kind of show, but NBC likes it," Boyer explained.

For the meantime, "Constantine" Season 1 episode 8 airs this Friday, Dec. 12, at 10 p.m. on NBC.
