Cory Monteith Cremated After Death, Father 'Devastated'

Cory Monteith was reportedly cremated in Vancouver on Tuesday following a private viewing with the late actor's family and girlfriend, Lea Michele.

The "Glee" actor, who played Finn Hudson alongside Michele on the popular TV series, was found dead alone in his hotel room Saturday by staff at the Fairmont Pacific Rim Hotel in Vancouver, British Columbia. His body was allegedly released to his mother on Tuesday and cremated, according to TMZ.com.

Monteith's father Joe, who is divorced from the late actor's mother Ann, was reportedly crushed after learning about his son's cremation because he allegedly did not get the chance to view his body before hand.

"[Im] totally devastated," Joe told TMZ. "I always loved both my sons and am going to miss Cory very very much. I'm saddened at the fact that I couldn't have been there to see my son before he was cremated."

The Vancouver Police Department confirmed Tuesday that Monteith's cause of death was a fatal overdose of heroin and alcohol.

"Mr. Monteith was alone [in his hotel room] when he died," a VPD spokesperson said, according to RadarOnline.com. "He took the heroin when he was alone by himself."

While the actor did in fact have a history of substance abuse, Joe revealed that he along with many others is "shocked" that the actor was still using following a stint in rehab during March.

Monteith reportedly spent a night out with friends Friday before heading back to his hotel room during the early hours of Saturday morning. Police reportedly found evidence in his hotel room that was consistent with a drug overdose.

"There was no sign of anything suspicious or out of the ordinary [but] ... there was evidence in the room that was consistent with a drug overdose," the spokesperson revealed.

"I won't go into specifics about what was in the room, but that was our investigators' initial finding, that they believed it was a drug overdose" the rep added.
