Couple's Dream Wedding Comes True Via Strangers' Charitable Giving

A couple will get to have the wedding of their dreams thanks to the kindness of others who donated nearly $35,000 after the groom-to-be was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Jennifer Brennan and Erick Denizard were stunned by the amount of donations and are extremely grateful to all those who have helped make their dream a reality.

"We want to sincerely thank our supporters and all of the people who have made such generous donations to our fund! We have the most amazing family and friends! We are often times at a loss for words, not knowing how to begin to show our gratitude to each and every one of you. Complete strangers have been moved by our story," Brennan wrote on the website gofundme in December.

Denizard began experiencing pain in his leg and went in for a routine check-up. On Dec. 6, he received the devastating news that he had terminal pancreatic cancer and was given from six months to a year to live.

"It was just a shock," he told The Sun Chronicle. "It's tough to hear that you're on the clock. I have no family history of pancreatic cancer and I'm much younger than the average age patient. Usually, it's found in people age 55 to 71, and I'm only 46. It's the last thing you think of."

The two had planned their wedding but were forced to use the funds to pay for treatment. Brennan decided to use the online website to help with wedding expenses, never expecting that so many people would be moved by their story and be so generous. Businesses have also offered to help, donating wedding cakes and flowers.

"It restores your hope for humanity that there are a lot of good people out there," Denizard said.

"It's surreal. I don't even know how to begin to thank people," Brennan added.

The couple is scheduled to exchange vows on Jan. 24, meaning that they will get to make their dream a reality.
